In 1982, he took the leap from a part-time gig to a full-fledged business, and in 1989, Jim made the pivotal decision to franchise his operations. Today, the Jim’s Group boasts nearly 5,000 franchisees all over the world, offering 52 plus different services.

Reflecting on his early aspirations, Jim humorously recalls saying, “If it’s really successful, one day I could have as many as 100 franchisees.” Little did he know that his ambitions would far surpass that initial vision, with more than 5,000 franchisees under the Jim’s Group umbrella. This phenomenal growth has propelled the Jim’s Group to become one of the most prosperous franchises globally, earning widespread recognition throughout Australia and beyond.

Fueling this expansion is the steady influx of around 200 new franchisees joining the Jim’s Group each year. He initially started his part-time gardening business while pursuing a PhD in history, and today he continues his academic pursuits by funding a research program on the epigenetics of social behaviour—a continuation of his doctoral work.
